Hungarians to coordinate Danube developments

The Freeport of Budapest Logistics Ltd. has been appointed to enhance the cooperation with the ports of Bratislava and Vienna.

During INWAPO’s (Upgrading of Inland Waterway and Sea POrts) third meeting at Budapest it has been decided, that the domestic logistics company will direct the working group coordinating the investments of the project. Existent EU resources will be applied in the port renovation of Bratislava and a ramp upgrade in Vienna, furthermore electricity and water dispenser areas will be installed in both banks of trading basin 1 of Csepel, and several other partners will start IT developments.

The Freeport of Budapest Logistics Ltd. - which operates the largest trimodal logistics centre in Hungary – is planning to put further available opportunities in use, while examining the possibilities of different developments and partnerships which could help the company to receive a larger role in the Central-European region.

30 representatives of water, port and traffic authorities of the region have been invited to the first committee meeting of the project - which is supported by EU’s “Central Europe” program - and discussed the state and possible improvements of waterway cargo transport. The Freeport of Budapest Logistics Ltd. participates in the project with a 277 507 € budget, receiving 10% of it from the Hungarian government.
